And the device you want might depend on which voice assistant you want to control your smarthome with; Amazon’s Alexa is still hard to beat, but Google Assistant is better integrated with third-party devices, and comes with a particular set of perks.

Like other doorbells, it makes scheduling easy thanks to integration with gadgets from Amazon Echo devices and Google Assistant services to August smart locks and Wemo plugs.
5. Nest Protect
Google Nest’s take on the age-old smoke and carbon monoxide detector is also a very competent piece of smart gear, with a light ring telling you what it’s doing and an app letting you connect it with other items in your household.
It too has verbal alerts that announce what sort of event has occurred and where it took place, as well as built-in self-checks to make sure that its sensors, batteries and WiFi network all work properly; and you can quiet its alarm conveniently with just one swoop of your hand! Last but not least, its verbal prompts let you know exactly when an alarm event has registered and when you don’t have to climb ladders to switch the alarm off!
6. Amazon Echo
A common feature of most connected homes is the presence of at least one smart home hub that connects all lights, jacket warmth, music playback and security controls and schedules in a single platform.
Philips Hue smart bulbs can be programmed to support the desired mood lighting. Dimmers can be set to control the brightness to your preferred level, or they can be dimmed by voice command or app command to further customise your mood lighting.
